Yearbooks/Summer

Yearbooks will be given to students who have paid this Monday. We will have a yearbook signing party Tuesday afternoon in our own classroom. We were going to do this on Wednesday, but it is jam packed with fun sports events. Please write your child's name in their yearbook before sending it back to school. Thanks

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, work with your child over the summer. It is soooo important. I would love for them to be reading and writing everyday! Also, you can purchase a summer workbook, which I have links posted in an earlier comment to get one online. OR you can go to CM School Supply store on Van Buren and buy a Summer Bridge workbook. This will be so beneficial for your student!

Class Party/ Kinder promotion

We will be having a class party on Wednesday June 25th. I will be providing pizza and juice for the students. I would suggest you send additional snacks for your student that day to go with the pizza, particular any healthy snacks (carrots, fruit, etc.). No student needs to bring a full lunch unless they do not want pizza.

Also, we will be doing a year book party that day. Please have your student bring their year books to be signed by their classmates. If you did not purchase a year book, send your student with a notebook they can have signed by their friends. PLEASE LABEL ALL YEARBOOKS with  your child's name. Thank you

Kindergarten Graduation is Thursday at 10:30am. It is a free dress day, I suggest they dress to impress. :)
We will be serving lunch to students who order from the school, please send a small lunch or snack if they do not receive lunch from the school.

Summer Workbooks

If you would like to purchase something to work on over the summer for 15-30 minutes a day to keep your student on target for First grade, I found a site that sells them! I highly recommend that you make a specific plan to help keep your student from losing valuable information over the summer. And please plan on reading on a regular basis.

Even if you do not purchase these workbooks, please go online to find worksheets for Kindergarten or First grade to work on over the summer!! And please have them practice writing sentences, stories, and/or letters!!

Also, you can find valuable workbooks at places like Costco and Sam's Club. Please do not let summer go by without working with your child!

Technology Device Update

Welcome back, I hope everyone had a wonderful break!

Once you have read through and signed the technology release waiver, you are allowed to send a device with your student to school. Because readjusting to school after a break may take a few days for some students, we will not be introducing the use of the technology until Thursday of this week. Now for the apps...

There are a variety of apps for different academic areas that would be just fine for students to be using. I am more concerned with the skill being practiced than the app they are using to practice it. Therefore, this is not going to be a list of the specific apps to download but rather a list of skills to search and find apps based on. Simply type in what I have put in the bullets and select some of the more popular that look appropriate for this age group.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Reading
  • phonics
  • word building
  • sight words
  • word family
  • rhyming
  • BOB books

Writing
  • tracing
  • sentence building

Math
  • number sense
  • skip counting
  • number bonds
  • basic addition
